Hawaii Five-0′s Hiro lives for “Revenge”

August 15th, 2012 by

Great news for fans of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa comes to us via Keck’s Exclusive.  Even though Hiro Noshimuri was killed during last season’s Hawaii Five-0, the actor has now been cast in a recurring role on ABC’s “Revenge.”  Cary became known to fans in Honolulu and on twitter, as a great guy who emanated positive vibes wherever he went.  Unfortunately his character fell victim to Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos) in Season 2 of the CBS show.  Hiro’s mantle on Five-0 is now being carried by his son Adam, played by Ian Anthony Dale.  We wish Cary the absolute best of luck in his new role.

From TV Guide

When ABC’s Revenge returns this fall for a second season of devilish fun, there will be yet another twist involving Emily’s mysterious revenge master, Satoshi Takeda — he’ll have a new face!

Due to the unavailability of the character’s original portrayer,Hiroyuki Sanada, the part will now be played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. According to producer Melissa Loy, Sanada’s jam-packed film schedule (including a role in the Hugh Jackman-led movie Wolverine) necessitated the change. “Geographically, with our schedule being what it is, it was getting a little bit challenging,” Loy explains. “We would have had to fly him in and out of Australia [where Wolverine was filming], but [still] wouldn’t have had him on the days we necessarily needed him. We tried to figure out a bunch of different scenarios, but ultimately it was too difficult.”

Tagawa, who has appeared on Heroes and Hawaii Five-0, will debut in the Sept. 30 season premiere and is “fantastic,” says Loy, who adds that the 10-year age difference between Takeda #1 (age 51) and Takeda #2 (age 61) was of no concern. “We didn’t want to try to trick our audience,” she says. “We wanted to bring somebody in who brought something fresh, different and new to the character.” Something the men have in common: both were born in Tokyo and boast an impressive list of Japanese film credits.

Loy says Takeda will stick around as long as “Emily has revenge-school stories.” And there are many new tales to be told this season — particularly in flashbacks showing Takeda working with both Emily and another vengeance-seeking pupil named Aiden.

24 episodes for Hawaii Five-0 Season 3

August 14th, 2012 by

Fans of Hawaii Five-0 have been asking how many episodes CBS would order for Season 3, but up until now we’ve only had official notice of a preliminary request for twenty-two.  Well, word just came via executive producer Peter Lenkov, that the network is going for the full twenty-four segments of the show starring Alex O’Loughlin.  In addition to that welcomed announcement, Lenkov teased viewers with a promise of some big news to come.  Peter, if you whisper it in my ear, I promise not to tell anyone!

Hawaii Five-0 calendar: Late August edition

August 12th, 2012 by

The month of August will be wrapping up with some of the season’s strongest episodes, so if you haven’t already done so, you might want to set that DVR.

Monday, August 13:  “Kūpale” (Defender) This episode provides a bit of Hawaiian history, the return of Al Harrington, and an appearance by Apolo Ohno as a low level loser. Scantily clad men run around brandishing spears, but sadly, none of the near-naked individuals are members of our Five-0 team.

"Kūpale"

Monday, August 20:  ”Lekio”  (Radio) Although some may remember this episode as the one in which Dennis Miller is blown into little bits of shark chum, it’s real worth is in James Caan’s performance as Tony Archer.  I’m pretty sure that most Hawaii Five-0 fans fell in love with the grizzled ex-detective when he managed to insinuate himself smack dab into the middle of the Steve-Danno bromance.  I don’t know about you, but I sure hope that Peter Lenkov brings the senior Caan back for Season 3.

"Ha’alele"

Monday, August 27:  ”Ha’alele” (Abandoned)  This was an odd episode for many Hawaii Five-0 fans since it was filmed while Alex O’Loughlin (Steve McGarrett) was in recovery, and the team leader’s absence was quite noticeable.  Nonetheless, it was an outstanding chapter showing the ability and range of Masi Oka (Heroes,) as his character reveals his tragic past and hunts a serial killer.  If you missed this one the first time around, don’t make that mistake  again.

Ving Rhames to battle Danno? Oh no!

August 9th, 2012 by

I’ve long been a believer that we don’t have enough Ving Rhames in our lives, so I was pretty darned thrilled to see this tweet come through from CBS on Thursday.

Mr. Rhames has played many a tough guy over the years, including Marsellus Wallace in “Pulp Fiction,” and Luther Stickell in the Mission Impossible franchise.  I do however, wish he was going to be on the side of Hawaii Five-0, and I’m a little concerned about this “bloody” battle.  Maybe this is when Danno is finally going to bust out his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills (Scott Caan has a purple belt) to the surprise of the rest of the team.

Trivia question: Who gave him the nickname, “Ving”?

Ving Rhames - "Mission Impossible"

The Pulp Fiction actor will play Billy, a man from Danno’s past, in flashbacks to the Fivo-0 member’s time as a cop in New Jersey. As the two square off, viewers will see what Danny is really made of. And according to CBS’ official Twitter feed, the battle — which may or may not carry over into present-day Hawaii — is “going to get bloody.” –  TV Line

A rocky return for Mrs. McGarrett (mild spoiler)

August 7th, 2012 by

As many of us suspected, Steve McGarrett is going to be hesitant to take everything his returning mother says, at face value. But it appears there may be even more obstacles for Doris McGarrett (Christine Lahti) to overcome when she surfaces in Season 3 of Hawaii Five-0.

From TV Guide

Got any more details about McGarrett’s mom on Hawaii Five-0? — Janine
ADAM: As you may have guessed, Steve is going to be mighty skeptical about his mother’s motives, given that he’s lived years believing she was dead. Unfortunately for Mama McGarrett, she’s going to have to win over Steve’s entire team if she wants to repair the relationship. “Catherine and Danny and the team — they’re going to be wary of her,” executive producer Peter Lenkov tells us. “You want to believe that her intentions are good, but at the end of the day, there’s going to be a lot of gray and a lot of questions about what she is up to. This team is very open with each other, and she keeps a lot of secrets.”

First look at Steve McGarrett’s mother (Spoilers)

August 5th, 2012 by

I’m just going to say that having read the article below, I’m already nervous to see what’s ahead for Steve McGarrett in Season 3 of Hawaii Five-0.

From Keck’s Exclusives at TV Guide.

Alex O'Loughlin, Michelle Borth and Christine Lahti

Hawaii Five-0

CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 left us hanging last May with the shocking revelation that Steve McGarrett’s presumed-dead mother, Doris, is very much alive. “She faked her own death to protect her family,” explains Chicago Hope vet Christine Lahti, who debuts as Mama McG in the September 24 season premiere. “Now she’s come back and Steve [Alex O'Loughlin] is shell-shocked. She hasn’t seen Steve since he was 15 and wants his forgiveness.”
Lahti will appear in at least four episodes, which will reveal where she’s been all this time and if she’s to be trusted. Steve’s spitfire kid sis Mary Ann (Taryn Manning) will also return for a reunion, but I wouldn’t start planning a Mother’s Day picnic on the beach just yet. According to executive producer Peter Lenkov, “Wo Fat wants Doris dead, and a man like that is hard to keep behind bars.”

Hawaiian Five-0 fans welcome Michelle Borth

August 5th, 2012 by

Last year Hawaii Five-0 fans had a chance to meet the new cast members at the show’s season premiere at Sunset On the Beach in Honolulu.  Since CBS has not announced that there will be a similar event for Season 3, local fans took matters into their own hands and invited the newest addition to a “tweet-up.”  Michelle Borth has previously guest-starred as fan favorite Catherine Rollins, Steve McGarrett’s (Alex O’Loughlin) go-to Navy contact, and occasional lover.  This new season sees her addition as a series regular.  Fan groups H50hana and TeamH50, linked up with blogger Wendie Burbridge and put together an intimate event at Big City Diner.   Besides the attendance of Ms. Borth, the high point of the evening may have been the depiction of the famous McGarrett-Catherine bed scene, custom made by Ninja/Hopper Cakes.

We hope you enjoy the photos, and don’t forget to check back for Officer 808’s upcoming blog on the event!

Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan provide the hugs

August 4th, 2012 by

Today in Waikiki, the 9th annual Surf4Hugs event was attended by Hawaii Five-0 stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan.  Both  actors are avid surfers and they threw their star power behind the event designed to allow some fun in the sun for children with life threatening illness.
