Hawaii Five-0 began its post-season finale summer schedule with an encore airing of Season 2′s Max-centric “Ha’alele (Abandoned),” on Monday, May 27th. The original CBS press release gave the following episode summary:
“‘Ha’alele*’ – A murder case hits close to home for Max when he is convinced that The Trashman, a serial killer with ties to his past, is on the loose. In order to convince Five-0 of his suspicions, Max reveals shocking information about his childhood, on HAWAII FIVE-0 …”
Monday’s Season 2 repeat brought in a 1.2/3 rating in the 18-49 demo with 4.96 million viewers.
Will Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) finally get the answers he’s looking for from Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos)? (Photo courtesy of Norman Shapiro/CBS)
“Aloha. Malama Pono” closed the curtain on Season 3 with a bang. It also regained lost ratings ground, bringing in an overnight rating of 2.0/6 in the 18-49 demo — an 11 percent improvement over last week’s 1.8/5. Alas, this is still a 26 percent drop in comparison to last year’s season finale, which brought in a 2.7 rating.
Based on the extended promo for Monday’s season finale episode of Hawaii Five-0, “Aloha. Malama Pono” promises to be an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with questions aplenty and possibly even an answer or two.

TV Guide Online’s Mega Buzz column spoke to Exec Producer Peter Lenkov about the season finale, and Lenkov did not disappoint. This season’s “Aloha. Malama Pono” will once again find our four principal characters tackling thorny personal issues. The Grim Reaper may also be lurking about in the background, looking for some poor unfortunate to cut down — a possibility Lenkov hints at here: “The English translation of our finale title is ‘farewell and take care.’ You can take want you want from that.”

Any last bits of scoop on the Hawaii Five-0 finale? — Jessica
ADAM: Like last year, the finale will explore all of the team members’ personal issues separately. “We’re going to touch on some questions we’ve had for a while,” executive producer Peter Lenkov says. “Is there more going on between Wo Fat and Doris than we know? What happened the night Michael Noshimuri took Kono’s gun? … [These] are issues that need resolutions. Some of our characters are going to have to make tough choices.” How tough? By the finale’s end, somebody will likely be dead. “The English translation of our finale title is “farewell and take care. You can take want you want from that,” Lenkov teases.

May 13th’s episode of Hawaii Five-0, “He Welo ‘Oihana (Family Business),” sees buried secrets coming to light — or in danger of coming to light — for Steve McGarrett and his mother Doris, for Kono Kalakaua and her ill-starred boyfriend Adam Noshimuri, and of course, for the criminals du jour who have been filling a field with bodies.
Look for a bumper crop of recurring and guest stars in “He Welo ‘Oihana,” which brings back Christine Lahti, Treat Williams, David Keith, Ian Anthony Dale, and Daniel Henney. Joining the Hawaii Five-0 Ohana for the first time is Craig T. Nelson, veteran of film and television. (Peter Lenkov has worked with Nelson before, on his CBS primetime crime drama “The District”).

Talk-show host Savannah Walker (Aisha Tyler) chats with Five-0′s Big Kahuna, Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) during a ride-along. (Photo courtesy of Norman Shapiro/CBS)
Aisha Tyler, co-host of CBS’s popular Daytime talk show The Talk, has never been afraid to let her fangirl flag fly when it comes to Hawaii Five-0′s Daniel Dae Kim. He’s visited — and charmed — the ladies of The Talk several times. When The Talk spoofed the more popular CBS Primetime shows, it was only natural that Tyler would take part in the Five-0 spot — a prelude of sorts to her actual guest role in Monday night’s “Imi loko ka ‘uhane (Seek Within One’s Soul).”
CBS’s official press release (which appears below the promo videos) gives the following description of the episode:
“Imi loko ka ‘uhane” – Five-0 allows a talk show host and her crew to follow them for the day, but the investigation turns dangerous when they have a run-in with Wo Fat, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Monday, April 29 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. THE TALK co-host Aisha Tyler guest stars as talk show host Savannah Walker.
A run-in with Wo Fat? Savannah’s show should score epic ratings with that kind of action!

Diaper duty isn’t something you’d generally equate with calming and centering, yet for Hawaii Five-0′s Alex O’Loughlin, it’s an aspect of parenthood that does just that after a long day at work. Diaper as grounding device was but one of the topics Hawaii News Now’s Tannya Joachin discussed with Five-0′s Steve McGarrett while spending time with the cast on a March 7th location shoot at Kualoa Ranch.

“For Alex O’Loughlin, it’s a balancing act, juggling the demands of the job with the demands of being a new dad. He put it this way, ‘As soon as I go home, I forget about the business,’” said Joachin, setting up the video segment. When asked if his family grounds him, O’Loughlin had this to say:
“Hell yeah! I walk in the door and I get handed a baby, which is what I want, but essentially within in 17 minutes, I’m pretty much guaranteed to be covered in urine, feces, or both. If that doesn’t ground you, what will?”
With the show’s renewal for a fourth season all but assured at the time and confirmed by the time the interviews and article were published, Joachin chatted briefly with O’Loughlin about the show’s prospects for a long run.
“I signed on for 7,” said O’Loughlin. “I’ve done 3 so that’s at least another 4. I mean, I can’t see us going anywhere, can you?”
HNN’s Joachin caught up with the cast on a rainy Thursday during location shooting on episode 3.21, “Imi loko ka ‘uhane.” While the actual interviews only featured Alex O’Loughlin and Daniel Dae Kim, video coverage included scenes with fellow Five-0 castmembers Scott Caan and Grace Park, as well as scenes from last Monday’s “Hoa Pili” featuring Masi Oka and Taylor Wily. Aisha Tyler, co-host of CBS’s Daytime show The Talk, is also shown briefly in a scene with O’Loughlin; she plays a talk show host whose ride-along puts her inconveniently in the middle of Five-0′s case du jour.

Hawaii Five-O stars dish on the future, fatigue, and family

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Locked and loaded, CBS has pulled the trigger on another season of Hawaii Five-O.
Leading man Alex O’Loughlin couldn’t be happier to keep playing Steve McGarrett. “I love my job. Look at where I live, you know” he said when Hawaii News Now visited the stars recently on location at Kualoa Ranch.
It’s Daniel Dae Kim’s favorite place on Oahu. “Anytime I have a chance to shoot here, I love it” he explained.
He didn’t mind racing the rain to shoot scenes that day. “This is nothing” says Kim. “I did 6 years on Lost. This is nothing.”
Hawaii Five-O has a grueling 24 show season schedule, and physical 12 hour days.
It’s part of the territory for Kim. He told us, “This is now my 9th year in a row on television and I would say I’m learning stamina in a way that I haven’t before.”

Heads up, folks — if you don’t want to be spoiled, now’s your chance to back away.
Regardless of whatever else is going on, tomorrow night’s “Hoa Pili (Close Friend)” is likely to be best remembered as “the Magnum episode” thanks to the scene highlighted in our first Five-0 promo. While Kamekona’s (Taylor Wily) chopper flying along the Waikiki waterfront sets the stage visually, it’s Max’s (Masi Oka) rousing rendition of a certain iconic theme that gets the ball rolling. Even Danno (Scott Caan) finds it irresistible!

Our second promo changes gears, shifting back to the ongoing shark-diving investigation. Steve (Alex O’Loughlin) and Danno get to have a bit of a “King of the world!” moment standing at the bow-rail of a fast-moving Coast Guard Response Boat Medium.
Heads up, folks — between the press release for “Hoa Pili” and the extended promo video beneath it, it’s safe to say there be SPOILERS here!

With dead bodies turning up in shark cages and random body parts turning up in dead sharks, it seems Danny has reason to be rationally concerned about becoming man-sushi — something Steve hasn’t forgotten about after his run-in with a tiger shark on their fishing trip gone awry (episode 3.03, “Lana I Ka Moana”).
“Hoa Pili” also features the much-anticipated return of everyone’s favorite Kapu kahuna, Kawika (Kala Alexander), last seen in Season 2 on the receiving end of HPD Chief of Detectives Vince Fryer’s (Tom Sizemore) “arrest ‘em now, ask questions later” approach to investigating the case du jour.
As for the epic game of tag between the freight containers — we’ll have to wait ’til Monday to figure that one out; whatever’s going on, Five-0 looks to be in fine butt-kickin’ form!

WHEN THREATS TURN DEADLY AGAINST A TOUR COMPANY THAT ENDANGERS THE LOCAL SHARK POPULATION, FIVE-0 MUST NARROW DOWN THE SUSPECT LIST, ON “HAWAII FIVE-0,” MONDAY, MARCH 25
“Hoa Pili” – When threats turn deadly against a tour company that endangers the local shark population, Five-0 faces the difficult task of narrowing down the suspect list. Meanwhile, the team debates whether or not Kamekona will earn his helicopter license, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Monday, March 25 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
